Modular Toothbrush

(2022)

During this project, we explored sustainable design by redesigning products for Hema. My team and I ended up settling on redesigning a toothbrush. The concept behind the design is to transform the toothbrush into a modular oral hygiene system. The handle would be made from recycled HDPE, resulting in a strong and unique handle, which is the system's base. This component would remain with the user in a way, capturing the plastic used in the making of the handle to prevent it from polluting the oceans. The attachments would be made out of a bioplastic, which, although still disposable, would drastically reduce the amount of plastic thrown out when it comes to oral hygiene products.
